Program Description
Under The Sea is an engaging live oceanography show that will take your students to the final frontier- our oceans! This program is presented by science teacher and diver Lee Ognibene, retired Sayville Planetarium Director & 1998 Suffolk County Science Teacher of the Year. Beautiful HD video shows how the oceans formed, how oceans got salty, the hidden geologic land forms of the ocean floor, continental drift, and the ocean food chain & ecosystems. It also shows what causes waves, currents, tides, storms and how they affect the ocean shore. Your students will learn about many forms of sea life- from plankton and coral reefs to sharks & whales. Other topics: how man is harming the ocean life with pollution, over-fishing, coral reef destruction, ocean acidification, climate change, and species extinction. (covers the NYS oceanography curriculum) Your students will see clear video I shot as I provide my live narration throughout the show. Perfect for grades K - 7th. After your students see this show, they'll understand how our oceans are vital to all life on Earth, even ours!
