Program Description
Specifically designed for the elementary school student, this program takes students on a multicultural journey exploring the roots of the Hispanic/Latin culture and the Spanish Language through music and dance. Performed in colorful traditional costuming, the program highlights dances of Spain and other Spanish speaking countries with a simple lecture linking the dances to the multicultural development of the Spanish language,& Hispanic history and culture. The program includes explanation of castanet playing,foot work, arm and hand movements and rhythmic hand clapping,giving the students an opportunity to learn and try them. Simple Spanish words are used throughout program which culminates in students learning a short choreography of Latin dance steps- Salsa, Merengue, etc. with the performers using the techniques they have learned and seen during the program. VIRTUAL program link will be available for school use the entire day.
