Program Description
Take students on a guided tour to the top of the Fire Island Lighthouse and surrounding area. Hands-on audience participation, presentation on the United States Life Saving Service, the forerunner to the US Coast Guard who rescues victims from shipwrecked vessels. Includes a guided tour of the boat house with authentic USLSS equipment and the Fresnel building which contains the original Fresnel lens from the Fire Island Lighthouse along with a guided nature walk along the way.
