A Zombee Halloween

Presented by Justin Colon

This presentation is for The Zombees (Simon & Schuster, '25), which received a starred review from School Library Journal. Learn from an actual beekeeper! Students and staff are welcome to arrive in costume for this Halloween-themed assembly offered exclusively during October. We’ll enjoy Halloween music and decorations, read Justin’s rhyming Halloween picture book, The Zombees (Simon & Schuster), and learn a few facts about honeybees. For older students, we can dive further into the hive and the fascinating lives of honeybees as we dive into the hive and learn about the fascinating lives of honeybees, the honey-making process, how beekeepers harvest it, and why it’s so special. Justin will even show pictures and footage of his bees, as well as showcase some of the actual equipment he uses. Note: Because this is a rhyming Halloween picture book, it's geared toward younger readers and best presented during the Halloween season. However, the beekeeping aspect of the presentation has great appeal to the older readers.
