Forgotten Skillz: ScribeCraft invites students to explore the history, science, technology, and artistry of written communication through immersive, hands-on experiences that transform history into something they can see, touch, and create. Experiences may include natural ink making, reed pens, handmade paper, scrolls and seals, historical bookbinding, ancient writing systems, Chinese seal carving, and other investigations into how civilizations recorded, protected, and shared knowledge. Drawing from diverse cultures and traditions around the world, students examine authentic historical technologies, analyze artifacts, solve design challenges, and create meaningful works of their own while connecting literacy, visual arts, history, archaeology, and innovation. Programs are customized to support grade level, curriculum, literature, and instructional goals, and can be adapted to fit single class periods, double blocks, extended workshops, or multi-day residencies. Designed for hands-on classroom participation, experiences can also accommodate larger class sizes or grade-level rotations with advance planning.
