Program Description
School districts now have the opportunity to book in person Multicultural Identities in the Arts workshops with The Art League of Long Island. This program aims to refocus the monocultural framework often present in art and art history education which favors the historically advantaged at the expense of other groups. Workshops will begin with an art history/contemporary art presentation and master artist-led discussion surrounding artists from multicultural backgrounds and their impacts on art. After the presentation and discussion, the art educator will conduct a hands-on art activity with students to engage them in projects relating to the multicultural presentation. Workshops can be conducted in a variety of mediums, ranging from drawing and painting, sculpture, jewelry making, printmaking, and more. Price will vary depending on duration and size of the workshop. $1,125.00 per Workshop of up to 15 students. Price increases based on number of students and specific projects. Contact the Program Coordinator, Meagan Moore at mmoore@artleagueli.org or call 631-462-5400 x 225 to book your workshop.
