Program Description
SUMMARY: Introduce students to the science of geology. They examine three different rock types and learn how and where they formed. Students investigate tectonic plates and learn how their movements cause stress on the Earth. They discover that these movements can cause mountains to form, earthquakes to occur and volcanoes to erupt. ** Every student takes home the "Mad Science Sedimentary Stacker" ** EDUCATIONAL VALUE: “Earthworks” is an excellent introduction to the science of geology. Students will explore different types of rocks and the processes that help to form them. They will investigate the formation of mountains and try to build some of their own. The science of Earthquakes will be explained to help provide an understanding of the forces that create these amazing occurrences. This class intends to illustrate to students the importance of understanding Earth science.
