Program Description
A theatre residency for Black History Month or any time of year. Goals tie into the CRSE Framework. Using 4 ten minute plays written about Frederick Douglass, Ruby Bridges, Louie Armstrong and Wilma Rudolph (others also available) students learn about bold, beautiful and successful African Americans who set goals for themselves and led accomplished lives, exemplary people who contributed to American culture and society. Each lesson includes an actors warm up using body, voice and imagination. Teachers assign parts and students learn to read with expression along with the theatre artist. 5 lessons. The 5th lesson, all 4 plays are performed.
