Program Description
Learn how Eastern Woodland Indians respected the natural world and used it to provide food, clothing and shelter. Observe how natural materials transformed utilitarian objects into works of art. Complements 4th and 7th grade curriculum NYS exam prep. Aligns with NYS arts anchor standards 11. Specifically connects with visual art enduring understanding and essential questions. 2.3, 6.1, and 11.1 Assemblies include: 1. Museum including beadwork, quillwork, corn grinder, stone tools, clothing, wood carvings, masks; 2. Traditional story; 3. Woodlands song and/or dance. Assemblies for one/multiple grades (discussed prior to booking). Aligns with NYS CR-S Framework by affirming cultural differences among groups as an asset and encouraging all students to connect with cultural voices different than their own. Price includes video resources and live/virtual performance.
