The Long Island Explorium facilitates high-quality hands-on STEAM (Virtual) workshops for classes of up to 30 students in grades K-6. Each workshop is facilitated by an experienced STEAM educator and provides a rich and stimulating learning experience with multiple entry points to best meet the needs of a wide spectrum of learners. There are many workshops to choose from offering an array of "Big Ideas" in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.
Our workshops are designed as a 90- minute experience and include STEM career awareness, civic engagement components, all materials, an additional 15-minute professional development session that enables teachers to preview the workshop, and documentation that demonstrates workshop alignment with Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core Curriculum Standards and National Core Arts Standards. Additionally teachers are supplied with Exit Slips that support evidence based writing, and take-home letters for parents that encourage continued exploration of the concepts at home.
