Program Description
Zoom/ Google Hangout Students will be asked to gather 3 handheld everyday objects from around the home or classroom. These items will be the starting point for their sculptures. I’ll demo how to coil build and model solid a few of my own household objects. With each object, we will discuss the best construction method of bringing the object to life. After the students have built their interpretations of their objects we will discuss abstraction. I’ll show some slides of contemporary ceramic sculpture to provide students with ideas for abstracting and provide in site on how to abstract their objects. Some will still resemble the original object while others are hybrid creations. Materials will not be provided. If students do not have to have access to clay they can gather objects, ask questions, provide ideas, suggestions, and walk me through constructing these sculptures.
