Program Description
A way to create a welcoming environment is through presenting relatable lessons.La Casa en Mango Street, Bendíceme Última, McFarland, USA and Voces Inocentes, and other empowering literary texts/films are used to exemplify the power of literature, and film, in building a stronger sense of community with students. The works presented help educators connect, empower and build a bridge that allows the students to see themselves through the story at hand. Whether a teacher already incorporates these pieces into their lessons, or this would be their first time exploring film and literature, this professional development provides language teachers with tools and lessons that go beyond the classroom. Includes follow up PowerPoint presentation with movie sample guide and other literary works recommended. Ideal professinal development for World Language and ENL educators.
