Program Description
Newly re-worked for virtual learning! Learn how the arts are a historic and current part of life for Plains Indians. Workshops immerse students in Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, Lakota and other Plains tribes' lives. Activities include: visual arts of the Plains from prehistory to today with hands-on art session; storytelling, traditional game; construction of large tipi and extensive museum presentation. Aligns with NYS arts anchor standard 11. Aligns with NYS CR-S Framework by affirming cultural differences among groups as an asset and encouraging all students to connect with cultural voices different than their own. Cost includes both video segments and live/virtual performance.
