Program Description
Celebrate 250 years at the Conklin Farmhouse! Led by costumed educators, teachers and students will experience the daily life of pre-revolutionary colonial families through an engaging and interactive visit to the historic Conklin Farmhouse Museum. Students will time-travel through the Conklin home and enjoy a hands-on learning experience in our authentic colonial barn. After a full presentation on colonial life and family responsibilities, students will enjoy hands-on exploration and discussion of historical artifacts as well as demonstrations of flax and wool preparation. Students will then practice wool carding and weaving and play colonial games. Each student will also practice their penmanship with a quill pen and will go home with a personalized whizzer and stenciled card. This colonial experience encourages curiosity and excitement, while bringing 250 years of history to life in a way that students will not soon forget. Program is available: September-June
