Program Description
Arts Horizons Distance Learning's virtual workshops are dedicated to building group cooperation, individual expression, and confidence among students in a digital setting. This virtual workshop will engage students in a holistic experience of percussion and beat-making through a variety of mediums. Students will be introduced to different percussion instruments from West Africa, Latin America, and other regions of the world. This will be accompanied by lesson on how traditional percussion and rhythm patterns from these regions have influenced Hip Hop, Salsa, Reggaeton, and other contemporary music forms. Finally, they will also have the opportunity to use found objects in their homes and even their own bodies to create rhythmic and polyrhythmic phrases. Programs are available for special education and english language learners.
