Program Description
What do you do when you are happy, sad or mad? Based on Joyce Raimondo's famous book, EXPRESS YOURSELF! students discover how to express feelings creatively and constructively. Starting with a virtual interactive art show, students discover how Picasso, Pollock, and others express emotions. Encouraging 100% participation, students share their own ideas about what they see in masterpieces of art. Students then express emotions in innovative projects inspired by artists; Pollock drip painting, Picasso faces, and more. The Imagine That! team is directed by renowned author-artist-educator Joyce Raimondo. Ask about virtual school trips to Jackson Pollock's House too! Cultural responsiveness: Our approach teaches students how to express personal opinions about what they see in diverse art and to respect the differing view points of their classmates. Fostering open ended thinking, we encourage debate and discussion through respectful speaking and listening to each other. The art discussed is exemplary of diverse backgrounds and approaches to creativity. Programs are geared to all ages and abilities.
