Program Description
The ultimate combination of low tech and high tech! In this fun and educational program we take found-object sound sources (trash) and then sample, manipulate and mutate them into danceable beats using science and technology. Along the way we’ll address issues of sustainability and plastic pollution, as well as acoustics and music production. Students will discover how producers work with sound to create sound effects, and how DJs layer sounds to create electronic dance music. Bash the Trash online programs feature rich educational content in a lively multi-media style with experienced presenters, flexibility with platforms and delivery, and options for connected residencies whether virtual, live/virtual hybrid, or any other format. Since the quarantine we’ve delivered dozens of online performances and residencies to schools, museums, libraries and summer camps - for many, their first online performance! Flexible with format, size and pricing. Bash the Trash programs meet the NYS CRS Framework by creating a welcoming space for all students to explore concepts of environmental justice and student-led responsive activism; as well as rigorous curricular and professional development for our presenters.
