Program Description
2 handouts and 6 short videos will impart in depth knowledge and convey excitement and wonder regarding the butterfly and moth (Lepidoptera) world. The first handout is in question and answer format and focuses on basic knowledge concerning insects in general and Lepidoptera in particular. The second handout gives links to 2 excellent Lepidoptera web-sites for students to learn, research and be immersed in nature's beauty, plus numerous stunning Lepidoptera/other nature items for teachers to share with their students via the internet. The 6 short videos (approx. 5 minutes each) made by the presenter utilize his spectacular Lepidoptera collection to showcase the unfathomable beauty and variety of the world's Lepidoptera incorporating various biology concepts: Beautiful Moths, Metamorphosis, Amazon Butterflies, Morphos, Giant Butterflies and Moths & Camouflage and Mimicry. The presenter has explored the world's tropical rainforests for approx. 1,000 days and led a half dozen major scientific expeditions for the Smithsonian and Field Museums.
