Program Description
DCLI Homeroom Edition is a new, remote-learning opportunity. This virtual residency is a way of bringing social dance to students in grades 3-8 who are unable to socialize in person, while building much needed SEL skills for young people. Through a series of 14 lessons over the course of 4-8 weeks, students will learn six American and Latin social dances and a variety of line dances. CoDanceCo, Inc. is the non-profit licensed Global Network administrative home for Dancing Classrooms LI. A minimum of two grade sections or classrooms must be booked. The residency fee per section or class decreases if four or more courses are booked. Virtual residencies consist of: • One Orientation meeting with school staff followed by a Meet & Greet with each class • 6 original pre-recorded videos based on six dance styles • Dance styles: Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, Swing, Waltz • 6 follow-up live sessions via Google Meet or preferred platform • Live sessions are led by Teaching Artist and consist of Q&A, dance review, and SEL exercises • Regular opportunities for teacher input and feedback • Virtual peer-to-peer sharing in celebration of student work & curriculum connections • One live culminating activity
