Program Description
Learn how the arts are a historic and current part of life for Plains Indians. Workshops immerse students in Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, Lakota and other Plains tribes' lives. Activities include: visual arts of the Plains from prehistory to today with hands-on art sessions; music and dance; storytelling; traditional games; craft activities; tipi and extensive moving museum of material culture. Aligns with NYS arts anchor standards 11. Specifically connects with visual art enduring understanding and essential questions. 2.3, 6.1, and 11.1. Can be a 1-5 day residency. Aligns with NYS CR-S Framework by affirming cultural differences as an asset and encouraging all students to connect with cultural voices different than their own. Price includes both video resources and live in-person workshops.
