Program Description
The ultimate combination of low and high tech! Found-object sound sources (trash) are sampled, manipulated and transformed through science and technology into danceable beats. Along the way we address issues of sustainability, plastic pollution, acoustics, and music production. Students learn how artists manipulate samples to create sound effects, and how sounds are layered to create electronic dance music. Fun demos, student participation and cool science make this an unforgettable STEAM presentation! Bash the Trash programs meet the NYS CRS Framework by creating a welcoming space for all students to explore concepts of environmental justice and student-led responsive activism; as well as rigorous curricular and professional development for our presenters.
