Program Description
Talking Art programs are fun, surprising presentations which introduce students to complex art concepts and stories from art history in an entertaining way through the unique combination of visual and spoken arts in my StoryFaces performances. Workshops, demonstrations and assembly programs, with a wide range of content, for grades 4-12. In Talking Art programs, I leverage the fascination students have with the painted faces to fully engage them in the real work I do as an artist: the process through concept, research, experimentation, self-critique (very important), improvement through more experimentation, analysis and presentation. My goal is to encourage students to take on the creative process as an adventure. This multidisciplinary approach to visual storytelling gives students multiple tools for developing communication and critical thinking skills, for understanding and analyzing art from world cultures, and for initiating visual arts and writing projects.
