Program Description
Photographer, raconteur, writer, traveler (87 countries / 49 US states) and a certified HS Social Studies teacher, "Mr. Mike" takes students on a "journey" beginning with the birth of ancient civilizations (Egypt) and then explores the religions of the non-Western World: India- Hinduism, SE Asia-Buddhism, Egypt-Islam and Sub-Saharan Africa-Animism. Concepts include: nationalism, tribalism, cultural diffusion, ethnocentrism, urbanization, globalization and the developed vs. developing world. Photography, anecdotes and artifacts make the curriculum and textbooks come alive. Fees: $1750- 1 show/2workshops (back to back); $2250-2 shows (back to back); $2600 (full day-shows and workshops). Enrichment for Grades 9 Global Studies and your students will become better students and better human beings! Like many students, I did not enjoy this class but my show will make connections to what they study in a dynamic and interactive way. Textbooks will come alive!
