Program Description
Bullies - The Musical! Multiple national award-winning singer-songwriter Patricia Shih offers a residency designed for grades 4-8 to teach about bullying. Ms. Shih will visit each class to help them research and write a musical; if time and budget allow, there can also be auditions, rehearsals and an actual school or community theatrical production based on the students' own experiences with and knowledge about bullies. Students will explore the causes of bullying behavior, learn how to recognize abuse, and ultimately how to deal effectively with conflict, the goal being win-win. The length and scope of the residency will depend on the number of participants and the school's budget, needs and wants. Total fun and enrichment while students learn more about the topic, writing and producing a musical and much more. Like most of Patricia's programs, this shows a commitment to equity and inclusion through culturally responsive and socially just engagement with diverse audiences.
