Program Description
The Sonnet Man sets Shakespeare’s love sonnets to Hip Hop and features rap artist Devon Glover. Produced by Broadway playwright Arje Shaw, The Sonnet Man brings Shakespeare to young audiences in welcoming and affirming environment through a genre they know and love. Through Hip Hop, Shakespeare becomes exciting and fun, introducing young people to classical literature which emphasizes social emotional learning, improves communication, enthusiasm for learning, increased creativity, raises confidence, promotes student leadership opportunities and sets a foundation for appreciation of the arts.
