Program Description
Stand-Up Stories: Theater, Writing, and the Power to Act is a dynamic, hands-on residency that combines live performance, creative writing, and movement to promote student voice, self-awareness, and community-building. Led by a nationally recognized author and performing artist, this program goes far beyond a typical SEL lesson. Students learn by doing—creating characters, acting out real-world scenarios, and shaping their own stories through monologue, scene work, and ensemble-based play. Rooted in DASA and New York State Learning Standards For The Arts, this artist-led experience gives students real tools for empathy, emotional regulation, and the confidence to speak up, support others, and navigate conflict. They don’t just talk about bullying—they rehearse what to do in the moment. Available for grades prek–8, customized by grade. All materials and artist equipment provided.
