Stand-Up Stories: A Social-Emotional Learning Residency

Stand-Up Stories is an interactive Social-Emotional Learning residency that helps students build empathy, confidence, resilience, and the courage to stand up for themselves and others. Designed for grades K-5, this hands-on experience transforms students from passive listeners into active participants through role-playing, creative writing, collaborative activities, and guided discussion. Rather than simply talking about kindness and bullying prevention, students practice real-world strategies they can use every day. Throughout the residency, students strengthen communication skills, emotional regulation, teamwork, and problem-solving while creating projects such as Peace Tables, original scenes, classroom presentations, or a culminating showcase. Rooted in New York's Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts, every residency is customized to meet each school's goals. Available as a one-day residency with up to six sessions or multi-day residencies of up to 36 sessions. All materials and teaching supplies are provided.
