Program Description
This 2-part workshop is a perfect creative reinforcement tool for School Guidance Counselors and Psychologists! Visual Artist and Socio-Cultural Educator, Madona Cole-Lacy, facilitates a discussion with high school seniors and juniors to identify their worries and concerns regarding college life. This non-judgmental segment of the workshop, aimed at addressing the social aspect of age-appropriate high school and college readiness, uncovers material for behavior tips and provides the opportunity for dialogue around the successful navigation of the high school and college experience; considering cultural beliefs, practices, identity, and social structures. The creative arts component of this workshop starts with an introduction to, and identification of media art-making tools and techniques students will use to express their understanding of the workshop theme. This activity will serve as a creative reinforcement and reminder of strategies they can implement to avoid the pitfalls of high school and college life. A Junior High school version of this workshop is also available. Cost includes Artist's fees and materials. Inquire about cost quote for group size larger than the stated maximum.
