Program Description
Discover the marvelous world of the largest animals ever to live. Students explore how whales have adapted to live in their ocean environment by understanding whale behaviors, touching real whale bones, looking at whale teeth, and touching baleen from a whale’s mouth. Explore the Whaling Museum’s collections through rotating stations. 120 minutes Craft: (for gr 1-2) Whale Puppets, students explore whale anatomy and create paper whale puppets OR (gr 3) Scrimshaw, students try their hand at carving scrimshaw, a classic sailor's folk craft. Add 30 minutes extended time for bag lunch and $0.50/student (students bring their own and eat in our workshop)
