Create Basic Fabric Designing Art Panels with Multi-Cultural Woodcut Stamps and Found Objects

Textile artist Madona Cole-Lacy engages students in hand-stamping fabric with multicultural woodcut and found objects. Students learn how to organize motifs into patterns on fabric and how to use authentic multi-ethnic woodcut stamps, commercial stamps, and various found objects. Students receive age- and grade-appropriate social and cultural enrichment on the art of found objects and woodcut stamps. After receiving instruction on the use of textile paints, each student creates art on a 16” x 16” fabric panel, which can be framed and displayed as wall art. Residency available! A school-wide collaborative residency for a giant wall art installation that reinforces and enhances students' understanding of civic and school community engagement is also available.
