Program Description
Immigration - The Musical. Multiple national award-winning singer-songwriter and filmmaker Patricia Shih offers a residency designed for grades 4-8 to teach about Immigration in America. Ms. Shih visits each class in each participating grade level to help them research and write a musical about their own immigrant ancestors; if time and budget allow, there can also be auditions, rehearsals and an actual school or community theatrical production based on the students' families' own immigrant ancestor's experience. Total fun while enriching student learning and creative experiences. Like most of Patricia's programs, this shows a commitment to equity and inclusion through culturally responsive and socially just engagement with diverse audiences. The length, cost and scope of the residency varies.
