Program Description
Perfect for PARP Shows!! Music promotes reading, creativity and comprehension at the same time. Educator Darlene Graham is exploring this question by combining language arts and performing arts. From her education experience in formal and informal settings she has created a show: A Musical Celebration of Reading. The NY Reading and Literacy list for K-6. Children’s literature; Carle’s Very Hungry Caterpillar, Slobodkina's Caps for Sale,Edgar Poe's The Raven, Dr. Seuss Oh the Places You'll Go," Silverstein poetry Falling Up comes to life on stage. Interactive performance engages students to connect reading, music, art and theater. Pre- and post-materials begin in the classroom. Small workshop of select 5-6 grade students before performance is encouraged. Can custom create books and themes.
