Program Description
A full day of interactive, hands-on, interdisciplinary workshops based on 4th grade curriculum. Students learn all aspects of Woodland Indian life through the arts. Aligns with NYS arts anchor standard 11.Specifically connects with Visual Art. Enduring understanding and essential questions. 2.3, 6.1, and 11.1 Workshops include: 1. Our DVD overview of Algonquian and Iroquoian-speaking peoples; 2. Museum: Beadwork, basketry, cradleboard, clothing, stone tools, etc.; 3. Traditional games and stories; 4. Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) government: students make decisions based on traditional Haudenosaunee teachings; 5. Clay art project; and 6. Woodlands music Aligns with the NYS CR-S Framework by affirming cultural differences among groups as an asset and encouraging all students to connect with cultural voices different than their own. Price includes in-person workshop along with video library including additional workshops for use before or after our day in person for a full immersion experience.
