Program Description
A tepee is built, recreating a Native village atmosphere as found on the Plains. Students experience daily use items of long ago. Buffalo skins and bones are shown and explained how they were made into tools and toys. The children are allowed to touch the items, play drums and games made from them. The objective is for students to understand how Native people were connected with nature making their everyday items from their surroundings. An age-appropriate made craft brings the memory home.
