Program Description
Students can learn about local history at our exhibits Chicken Hill: A Community Lost to Time and SPIES! How a Group of Long Island Patriots Helped George Washington Win the Revolution. While exploring the exhibits, students participate in hands-on learning activities that help them understand how they can connect their experiences with the people in Setauket and Long Island history whether these historical figures are from the Revolutionary War era or from the mid-nineteenth to twentieth century multicultural, multi-racial neighborhood Chicken Hill. Students are encouraged to ask questions about the history within the exhibits to understand why and how the history is relevant to the community they are a part of. Our program can be adapted based on the needs and learning styles of your students. Recommended for 4th grade and up.
