Program Description
It starts with your students selecting a cause they believe can make the world a better place. Then, author/illustrator Paul Rodriguez “Rodro” guides them in developing even the simplest ideas and most basic drawings into beautiful, impactful works of art. Based on examples and aided by a series of templates for both text and images, your students will make connections between symbols, words, and their ideas. The process begins with collecting phrases and images for inspiration boards, which are then honed into their one-panel comics with captions. Finally, their comics are organized into a unique version of the Dear World book. Along the way, your students will deepen their understanding of persuasive, creative writing with symbolism, cultural connections, and global citizenship. Ultimately, your students gain a sense of positive self-value and the understanding that “Every voice can make a difference!” — especially theirs, as individuals and as a group.
