Program Description
How can artmaking deepen our connection to the natural world? In the spirit of early artist-botanists, we’ll take inspiration from plant life and discover the magic of monotype printmaking. Students will develop imagery related to the human body and incorporate plant specimens into their compositions, while exploring their personal relationship to the earth and nature’s forces. The project incorporates research and first-hand observation skills, while understanding where art meets science. Cyanotype printing workshop is also available with access to sunlight - call for consultation. The workshop can include single or multiple visits, can be adapted to various ages and abilities or professional development. The workshop can include an outdoor foraging walk or excursion. Option to have students create individual one-of-a kind prints or a collective large banner while being guided through the process of collaboration, or both.
