Program Description
Looking for a fabulous, high-energy, wildly interactive treat for your students? Allow me to introduce Lee Knight's Zumba Dress Up Dance Party! Props and shakers along with colorful cheerleader poms, giant candy canes, Hawaiian leis, bandanas, and bell bracelets enhance the dance experience! We start with a dance warm up to Shakira’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) where children learn basic Latin Dance steps that repeat throughout the program. Then we’re off and dancing to one amazing song after the other, changing student volunteers and props for each new song. Students delight in learning the cha cha to We Don't Talk About Bruno, and Danza Kudora. Students follow steps to classics and current pop songs. Adding s Sea Shanty and a dance to Night Falls from Disney Descendants exposes children to a variety of music and cultures. Many student volunteers get a chance to dance up front with Lee, while the entire audience is also on their feet, dancing! Students also practice: counting in sets of 8 counts; knowing to expect changes after hearing 5, 6, 7, 8, and how to put together a Zumba dance using 4 or 5 separate moves. Towards the end Lee encourages students to make up their own moves. 5 students are selected to come up and we perform a song using those 5 moves. This way students learn to become choreographers, and understand how Zumba patterns work.
