This program includes an exciting and interactive nutrition presentation, focusing on healthy foods that are the colors of the rainbow!
The program starts out with a reading of the book Rainbow Panda by author Lisa Muchnik. Children briefly get to move and stretch as a group before the program continues with a corresponding nutrition lesson. The presentation includes information on basic nutrition, identifying foods of each rainbow color, and a food detective exercise where the children have the opportunity to guess colorful foods and learn interesting facts about them. While Rainbow Panda is not a nutrition book, it ties in beautifully with the rainbow theme and eases children into the more educational portion of the program. At the end of the program, there is even an adorable healthy eating panda slide, which can be provided to the school to make a corresponding handout, if desired.
Lisa Muchnik, who is also a former dietitian, currently works as a nurse anesthetist and yoga instructor. She enjoys sharing her book and her love of healthy eating with kids in this creative and unique program.
