Shadrack Boakye’s dynamic, interactive speaking program is designed to remind students of the power of words—how they shape our identities, influence our futures, and create opportunities. Blending storytelling with the performing arts, Shadrack takes students on a journey of self-reflection and empowerment through engaging, thought-provoking activities.
Born in war-torn Liberia, Shadrack immigrated to the United States, where he faced immense academic struggles—repeating two grades and reading at a second-grade level in eighth grade. However, a single teacher, Mrs. Murphy, changed his life, igniting his passion for writing. This spark led him to win a national writing contest, receive a letter from Muhammad Ali, and earn a life-changing scholarship.
Today, Shadrack is an actor featured on Netflix, Apple TV, and ABC. He has collaborated with industry legends like Spike Lee and Tom Holland. His company has spent over 15 years inspiring audiences nationwide, earning recognition, including a NY Emmy in 2017.
For over a decade, he has traveled the country with Scholastic and Harcourt, sharing his story with students and educators. In 2014, Scholastic published Unstoppable, a biography about his journey, which is now part of schools’ READ 180 and System 44 literacy programs.
Shadrack’s story proves that words—spoken, written, and believed—can transform lives. His program is more than a speech; it’s an unforgettable experience that challenges students to embrace their own voices and potential.
