Program Description
From the moment students and staff walk into the presentation space, you will be greeted by fun set pieces and props related to The Quacken, creating an immersive experience. After a brief intro, we'll kick things off with a read-aloud. But this isn't going to be your regular ol' storytime session. Because students are going to become active participants. As a professional actor and voice artist, I will invite them to be my scene partners and get goofy with me. They'll shout out sound effects from the book and answer questions. A few select students will even receive cue cards featuring dialogue from the book. Accompanied by a fun slide deck, I will talk about myself, my writing and storytelling process, and how The Quacken evolved through its publication journey. Finally, I'll open the floor up to students’ and staff’s questions. My intention is to entertain, educate, and inspire, leaving everyone feeling as if they've just been sugared up on literacy in the most fun way possible.
