Program Description
Jazz music is multi cultural at its core. So many people of different races and cultures have helped create and develop this art form that has improvisation at its core. Improvisation is simply the way jazz musicians collectively play and listen to one and another, very similar to having a conversation. As an 11 year old, I had the pleasure of hearing legendary jazz saxophonist Phil Woods in concert. The command that he had over his instrument and the ability to improvise effortlessly was mesmerizing! For your school, I would like to perform a jazz concert with a program customized to the age and experience of your students that highlights some of the most influential figures in jazz and the art of improvisation.
