Program Description
Provide instrumental music lessons for continuing students in grades 5-11, as well as beginner music lessons for students going into 4th grade that are joining a musical ensemble for the first time (band or orchestra). For beginner music lessons, students begin by learning about instrument technique, maintenance, and begin learning how to produce a sound right away. Beginner students receive lessons every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Continuing students range from grades 5-11, and these lessons are dedicated to building on these students skills. Students work on various musical etudes, chamber music, solo repertoire, and even large ensemble repertoire depending on the size of the lesson group. Note and rhythm reading skills are especially built on in these lessons. Some continuing lesson groups are comprised of students that play the same instrument, and some lesson groups are comprised of mixed instrumentation (e.g. String quartet lesson group, lower brass lesson group, percussion ensemble, etc.).
