Designed for the Middle and High School student, Danza Hispana presents exciting dances from Spain - Folk & Flamenco, Latin America(Mexico's) Jarabe Tapatio from Mexico) and the Latin Caribbean in colorful, traditional costuming. Simple lecture links the dances to various aspects of Hispanic culture, its multi-cultural history and the Spanish language. Program also features student participation in the demonstration of castanets, braceo (hand movements), palmas (rhythmic hand clapping), zapateado (footwork) & culminates with students coming onstage with the performers to learn a simple choreography for Salsa/Merengue/Cumbia.
