Specifically designed to acquaint the younger student with the Hispanic/Latin world through the exciting medium of music and dance. This program presents various dances from Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean in colorful, traditional costuming. Simple lecture links the dances to various aspects of Hispanic/Latin culture, its multi-cultural development and the Spanish language. The performance includes INTERACTIVE audience participation throughout & demonstrations of castanet playing, hand & footwork, & rhythmic handclapping. The program culminates with students on stage learning a variety of steps from Latin Caribbean dances (Merengue, Salsa, Rumba, Cumbia). Subsequent programs on the same day are half price.
