Program Description
Consider the Octopus (Henry Holt 2022) is an environmental farce that takes place on a research ship near the Great Pacific Garbage Patch and tackles issues of self-esteem, friendship, and ocean pollution in the form of a laugh-out-loud story. How did we come to write a coedy set at the Great PGP and what kind of research did we do to get the details right? How can young readers step up to help mitigate the problems of ocean plastics? This program may be done for individual classrooms or assemblies and may include hands-on writing time with prompts.
