Program Description
The dance, since primitive times, has played a key role in the life of the individual and communities highlighting the most important moments. In Sardinia the historical sources about the folk dances are distant and different over time. The first document related to this expression of the folk tradition, is dating back to the Ozieri Culture (3200-2700 BC). The “ballu tundu” is the most popular dance among the various sardinian dances and its characteristics are: the circularity, the flicker, the composure. The dance is accompanied by musical instruments: the “launeddas” (in Sardinian language), Sardinian musical instrument who have an ancient origin and are wind instruments, guitar, piffero “su sulittu “(in Sardinian language) , drum, bells and accordion. Learning traditional dances exposes students to the diversity of world cultures. It fosters an understanding and appreciation of different customs, languages, and lifestyles, promoting cultural sensitivity. This dance is performed in groups, requiring cooperation and social interaction. Students learn to work together as a team, enhancing their social skills. *Multi-discount is available to schools that attend "EVERGREEN/SEMPREVERDE" AND reserve BALLU TUNDU for an in-school performance.
