"Musical Therapy For The Soul", is targeted for 4th graders and up. Its an audience driven program curated to elicit a joyful and active response from the students.  With a mission statement of teaching students to revere music of a "bygone era" and foster a faith in the timeless power of music. This process  is achieved in steps. First, by employing different genres.  From Broadway,Standards, Harlem Renaissance, Classic soul, Contemporary, and Foreign Languages. Thus, teaching students about different genres. Additionally, providing anecdotes about the artist or composers(ex. how they triumphed over adversity ) Second, encouraging students to participate in dancing and singing with the band, emphasizing interaction. Moreover, using songs to evoke emotion( like " In My Room", from the Beach Boys, expressing feelings of isolation). Third, never singing "At" but "To" my students,and leaving them with affirmations of positivity and possibility!
