Program Description
Rachel’s Challenge is an interactive school assembly/character education program. The program is based on the life of Rachel Scott, who was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20th, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion, coupled with the contents of her six diaries, have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America. The Rachel’s Challenge process was developed in conjunction with Dr. Robert Marzano and is a tier one intervention that provides measurable and sustainable improvements in school climate and culture, student mental health, bullying, and other core competencies. The objective is to motivate and equip students and staff with practical processes and tools to sustain a chain reaction of kindness and compassion. Due to the Rachel’s Challenge experience: • More than 150 suicides or other violent acts are averted annually. • Eight known school shootings averted. • Thousands of Friends of Rachel service clubs serve their schools and communities.
