Program Description
Visit the home and studio of abstract painters, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner, a national landmark in East Hampton. Discover creative ways Pollock and Krasner expressed their feelings with paint. Visit their historic house and explore the studio barn filled with paint splatters - evidence of their masterpieces! Discover what creativity is all about as you look and talk about what you see in sculptures, paintings, and prints by many artists displayed in their home. Then get your own expressions out as you sketch on the spectacular grounds overlooking Accabonac Creek or drip paint like Pollock. We encourage Cultural Responsive Learning: Pollock and Krasner are an embodiment of the American Dream - from humble beginnings - the bridge to their success was access to education. As painters, they challenged tradition and created a groundbreaking art that celebrated the American Democratic ideal of free expression and individualism. 100% interactive, this trip helps students of all ages discover diverse ways of thinking, looking, and expressing themselves while respecting the views of others. Virtual programs and in - school workshops also available. Professional development workshops are offered. Painting workshops can be arranged in advance, following the guided tour. Group size is limited depending on the venue and Covid guidelines.
