Program Description
Two Session (one class) Writing & spoken word workshop, designed for NLA Students, Heritage Classes, ENL and/or ELL’s. Session 1: Exploring the “creative process” - Author presents original pieces sharing relatable stories from her personal journey. Using a multidisciplinary approach the author invites the students to self-reflect and discover the power of their own stories, origin, and family history, in preparation to compose their own pieces. Session 2: Discovering “one’s voice” - Students will engage in an open dialogue on the work presented, culminating in the development of their own writing piece. As the students create their own literary pieces they are able to discover their own voice through their heritage, their language, and individual traits. Participants will be encouraged to share their pieces and will receive tips and guidance on public speaking/spoken word. Max. 25 students. Includes 10 copies of short story book “De cuento en cuento” additional copies available at a discounted rate with booking.
